Garrison Keillor stretches his arms wide as he shows visitors where he wants a wall that will display books face-out in his new Common Good Books bookstore.

"I saw this in a bookstore in London," Keillor said Thursday, March 29. "I don't want to see a book's spine. Displaying books this way emphasizes the beauty of book design. That's a powerful thing. We're going to have a lot of tables, too. I love tables. Maybe a little children's corner. And magazines."

Common Good Books will open April 9 at 38 S. Snelling Ave. after doing business for five years in a lower level space at Selby and Western avenues.
