Eric Carle Museum to host 'Caldecott Medal: Past, Present, and Future'

Eric Carle Museum to host 'Caldecott Medal: Past, Present, and Future' -- The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art announced today that it will host a program on the Caldecott Medal on January 14, 2012. "The Caldecott Medal: Past, Present, and Future" will feature a discusssion of what makes a children's book great.

According to the Eric Carle Museum's Facebook page, "The Caldecott Medal: Past, Present, and Future" will feature Barbara Elleman, librarian, editor of Booklist, creator and editor-in-chief of Book Links, and children’s literature scholar. Ms. Elleman will "reflect on a variety of Caldecott Medal and Honor winners over the years and invites attendees to join in on the discussion." The program will run from 9 a.m. to noon.

The Caldecott Medal is awarded annually by the American Library Association to the American artist of the "most distinguished American children's picture book" published the previous year, according to the ALA.
