ENGL 306A CHILDREN'S LITERATURE

9:30am-10:45am, TTH

M. GALBRAITH

Description: Reading, analysis, and discussion of classic works of children's literature.


ENGL 401 CHILDHOOD'S LITERATURE

Lecture

2:00pm-3:15pm, TTH

J. THOMAS

Description: Influential contemporary and classic literature for children and young adults, such as Charlotte's Web and the Harry Potter series. Sample topics include construction of childhood, cultural values and ethics, role models, subversion of adult power.

ENGL 501 LITERATURE FOR CHILDREN

Lecture

3:30pm-4:45pm, TTH

Description: Critical analysis of literature intended for children. Study of texts and illustrations.

ENGL 502 ADOLESCENCE IN LITERATURE

Lecture

2:00pm-3:15pm, MW

A. ALLISON

Description: Works centrally concerned with an adolescent protagonist. Includes both traditional novels of development (Bildungsroman) and contemporary young adult novels.

ENGL 727 HISTORY OF CHILDREN'S LIT

Seminar

A. ALLISON

Description: Issues and topics of special interest to children's literature, such as gender depictions, commodification, cross-over writing, and regionalism.
